This sounds like a nice workaround actually. which is a shame as its an amazing game in VR. I can hit the menu button on my WMR controller and the game reads that as the A button, but doesnt read any other buttons or joysticks. So I tried my controller (PS3 controller on SCP toolkit, runs as an Xbox controller) and it doesnt work. Making some kind of swimming motion with the motion controllers is simply not practical with this type of game. Dont be put off by the controller aspect of this game. For VR, use a wireless Xbox controller or a Steam Controller (what I use). When this announcement happened, I started playing around with the settings. Recently Steam announced Controller Config support, similar to the Steam Controller profiles, for Xbox controllers. VR doesnt mix well with screen-space shaders made for one camera but the devs have just ignored the VR version of the game from the moment they released it. Id been told the game supported motion controls now, but Ive already figured out that was a lie. Too good to pass over if youve been yearning for full length games in VR. Solution: Uncheck 'Xbox Configuration Support' in the Controller Config menu in Steam. This should be pretty reliable once you get your bindings setup the way you want them. Any way to play Subnautica with the Index controllers. And for using the game menu I think my VR controllers or a PC mouse should be able to use. I could although change the menu selection but doing nothing else. As mentioned in the title, motion controllers will not working for this game at all (even Vive controls which partly work). This workaround basically bypasses that by turning your controller into a keyboard/mouse combo. Please try and boot Subnautica from your Steam Library and not ingame VR, since when I did this it did not load the VR Enhancements mod. ![]() I think they've basically changed the Steam Input library in the latest Steam Client, which means the games all need updating to use it properly.
